Effective ventilation for over 7km of metro tunnels

Budapest Metro Line tunnel 4, under the ownership of the Hungarian state and the Municipality of Budapest, is divided into 3 phases. The 1st phase which is 7.34 km long, starts from Kelenföldi station and up to Keleti main railway station passing under the river Danube. Phase 2 comprises of the 3.2 km long twin running tunnels from Keleti to Bosnyak tēr and the 3rd phase consists of the 2.1 km stretch from Kelenföldi to Mádarhegy.

The large JM Axial Fans Woods Air Movement supplied are responsible for extracting heat and fumes from the tunnel system, keeping workers and passengers safe. Should there ever be an emergency, the fans will automatically switch mode to control the smoke, effectively providing crucial time to enable safe evacuation and to help fire crews gain access.
